IBM Thinkpad T20: How do I get sound to my A/V receiver?

I'm trying to output the sound from my Thinkpad T20 to my A/V receiver, to use it as sort of a ghetto HTPC. I have a 1/8 to stereo cable, but I can't seem to get any sound to work. I have headphone, mic and what I believe to be line-out, although since this is not working, I am thinking it might be line-in. I don't really know which it is. I'll take a picture of the ports when my camera battery is charged.

What can I do to get this to work? I have seen some port replicators which claim to have line-in and line-out both, but will just adding a port replicator enable line-out? Am I just doing something wrong, some setting I need to change?

Thanks guys.

not sure if this will help or not - I use my T20 regularly to watch divx anime, I hook up the s-video on the back and for the audio, I purchased a stereo cable to AV from frys and it works like a charm. One end is the stereo plug the other end is AV input for left/right sound to the TV.

not sure if this was what you're asking for ...

Yeah, I have that cable. It goes from the laptop (1/8th jack) to the red/white plugs to the receiver. However, no matter where I hook it up to the laptop, no sound goes to the receiver. Which plug does it go in, the headphone jack or the one I seem to be confused about, the line in/out jack?
Is there some setting I need to change to get the sound to go from the laptop to the receiver? Shouldn't it just 'come on' as if I plugged in a set of headphones?

The headphone jack. Yes, it should "come on" just as if you plugged in headphones. BTW, that "line in/out" jack you describe, it's probably line-in ONLY IIRC.
