IBM Thinkpad 770ED problems....

I have Windows 2000 loaded on this machine (3 month eval version). First off, how do I tell the speed of the processor in this laptop. I went to control panel----system---general, but it states the following

Computer:
x86 Family 6 Model 5 Stepping 0
AT/AT COMPATIBLE
64,880 KB RAM

Can anyone decipher this, or tell me another way to find out the chip's speed?

Also, I cannot format this blasted machine. I should note there's no floppy, just a DVD drive. If I put the Win 98 cd in absolutely nothing happens. I'm unable to format from a command promt either. I did find this utility here, but it requires the use of a floppy drive!!!

Any suggestions? Please help.
