What are the differences? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? I know I want one but can't find enough info to make a decision on which is right for me.

Basically I will be using it to connect my laptop to and external monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, and maybe printer for gaming and other such things where using a mouse or sitting at a desk are more appropriate that sitting on my couch with it on my lap.:D

The docking station is bigger and have more connectivity than the port replicator in general. In the case of IBM docking station, you get a miniPCI slot and also couple of extra ports including an DVI port (I'm not sure about this though, you should check this again). The port replicator is basically like it name, replicate the port on your T40. It is cheaper than the Docking station and serve most ppl needs.

the dock also provides two cardbus slots, and a ultrabay bay. yes, it comes with a dvi port too. the pci slot is half length, most regular cards will fit inside it.

I don't really need a DVI port at this time but since they both have one it becomes a non issue. The ultrabay is a plus for the docking station, does it come populated by anything?

Thanks for the help.

That would be cool.

One more thing I just remembered. What are the differences between the minidock and the dock II?
