This IBM kit used sells for ~$150, is usually available on ebay for ~$30. Even with a ~$7 shipping charge, you're still securely in hot deal territory. The security software provides system access control and can store passwords, keys, certs, etc. You can also use the reader for "smart" credit cards. If nothing else, this is a good tool for learning a bit more about infosec.

Software seems to be about 3 years old. No mention of Win2K compatibility, so I'd assume there is none.

There is a lot of PC/SC software available. You may find that MSFT has similar SW that supports PC/SC smartcards.

re: Win2K compatibility concern. The bundled IBM SW may not support Win2K, but note that the Gemplus reader and card have native support in Win2K
