Go check out the living style of Indian IT professionals like the ones from Infosys, TATA consulting...etc. Just because average Indian salary is crap doesn't mean IT salary in India is crap.

Yeah Indian IT wages are awesome compared to other indian wages, simply because half of the country is in poverty... third world poverty.
Here's a fun exercise in futility : go and calculate what percentage of your income would consumer goods account for on indian salary. How much of your annual income would it take to buy that 40" LCD TV or a new car.... and don't even get me started on the quality of medical care.
As someone else pointed out, there's a reason why there are lines in India for U.S. H1B visa

I wonder, though, if that plan is set up to move all the H1B people back to their home nation - presumably only indian nationals would take the job and even that's a maybe.

I'm a former Czech national and there's no way I'd take a job in Czech on local salary... The Land of the Free > *

you might be on to something there. I know we had two (man and wife) Indian doctors in our small town. They lived here almost 20 years, even raised their kids here but then they sold out their practices and moved back to India to retire.

Also, I am sure you could slack of a little bit in India as like said before me, you are a highly skilled worker.....

Also, think of the women. :)

Dude that article said 'India' not 'Italy'

I wish I could do my job from a 3rd world country.. I'd pick the Philippines, cuz my gf has family there, but India's just as good. Mark me down as another "it sounds like fun"

more fun than being jobless in America anyway.

Exactly, there's a lot more to standard of living than relative income. There are so many services and luxuries we enjoy in the US that just aren't available even in other first world nations.

At least you are exempt from income tax... maybe Obama might notice you for a cabinet position.

Oh come on, Prague is one of my favorite European cities! Oh, the architecture, the girls and, of course, the beer!

Uh, you are a bit too narrow minded that only your taste is 'right'. It's only right for you. Insulting people who aren't your taste makes you boorish.

I'm glad this thread has been sidetracked by talking about how ugly indian women are and how the cities smell.

Never been there, so I don't know firsthand, but based on everything I've heard from those who have and what I've seen on TV, it's pretty much one of the last places on earth I'd even consider living. Yuk!

This kind of stuff is a tragedy for the country. Each company is making these kinds of decisions to "stay competitive" with other companies, but as a whole the US it shooting itself in the foot by doing this. Protectionism is not the answer, but there has to be a way to create good incentives for companies to keep jobs here rather than in some third world place like India.

Instead of flooding this country with the illegal immigrants whose only qualification is they can walk long distances we should revamp our "legal" immigration policy to let the kinds of workers we need in the country. The people who can't compete can pick the lettuce.... or start growing their own (which is what I have to do).
