IBM memory upgrade?

Hi, I would like to put more memory into my IBM NetVista A20 (model 6269-BBG), which is P3 667, but has only 64MB memory.
I checked on the IBM website, also on some big memory manufacturers sites and they all suggest I need quite expensive memory modules.
Even Kingston SDR 133 for this IBM is 3x the price of a normal Kingston SDR 133. Why? What is so special there?
Can I use just any memory or are those IBM machines very sensitive and will not accept anything else than the original ones? Thanks.

generally, yes you can use the type and speed that the system is spec'd for.

Manufacturers like IBM partner with Kingston, and others to Supply an OEM high grade memory module that meets IBM's environmentals... ... Other's will suggest that is bunk, but it's truly what happens.

You shouldn't have a problem with basic ram modules spec'd for that system.

If you buy cheap RAM instead of from someone like Crucial.com using their memory selector, make sure the place has a good return policy with low restocking fees.

Also be sure to run a program like memtest to make sure the RAM is really worked
