IBM HD DRIVERS

Ladies or Gentlemen, I need a driver for a IBM Desk Star 41g Hd or something compatible, IBM's site dose'nt seem to list one
Thank You, Plumber

Hard drives don't need drivers (or at least, not in the conventional sense of the word when it comes to the OS).

Exactly what is the problem and what are you trying to do?

Andy Hui, I have an Aptiva w/ a 4.2 HD that I am trying to upgrade to a larger HD without losing the info, Bios reconizes it Win98 has designated it a letter, the drive is in slave mode, Than you for the reply, Plumber

Are you sure that your Aptiva recognized the drive right? Older computers have troubles with bigger than 8Gb or 32Gb HDD's very often...

An older machine like an Aptiva with a 4.2GB hard drive may need a BIOS update in order to handle the full size of the 40GB in your new drive.

Does FDISK return the drive size as 32GB or the full 40GB? If the size does not show 38GB or higer, you will either need a BIOS update, or a BIOS Overlay program, such as IBM Disk Manager.

Presumably, since Win98 has assigned a drive letter to your drive, you have already FDISKed and FORMATed your drive. If the drive is running without problems, you can copy data to the new drive.

If you want to move your entire Windows installation intact, to the new drive, try Ghost, and Ghost the partition on the old drive across to the new drive.
