IBM Hard Drive Question

Hi all,
I am about to buy an IBM 75GXP 45GB drive but I have a few questions:-
1. Is this drive true ata100?
2. How much performance increease am I likely to see over my Quantum Fireball 20gig 7,200 ata66?
3. I'm going to install it on my asus a7v running winme. I know I have to connect it to the ata 100 controller on the m/b as opposed to the primary slot where my ata 66 is now. I also know that I'll have to enable the ata100 option in the bios but talk to me about the Promise drivers. What's the story there?
Thanks for your help,
Pete

If you have a ultra ata 66 drive, your new drive will also work according that protocol. IBM drive is faster but you won't notice a big difference. I have bought an IBM 46 GB too, but I cannot install it as my master and copy all files from my old to my new one, i am not sure why not.

My IBM 45g ATA100 is behaving odd too. System seems fine, but Device Mgr has DMA unchecked and when I run the Intel ATA utility it reports my CDROM as primary master and no other IDE devices present. BIOS is set to auto for both and show the drives correctly (UltraDMA 5 for the IBM). Jumpers are at factory (master) defaults. What gives?

System: ASUS CUSL2-C/815EP /P3 1ghz /256m PC133 /CL TNT2 Ultra

DOH! Found the answer: looks like I need to try the new beta Intel ATA storage driver. The driver is not present on my primary IDE. Anyone having a similar problem might wanna look here myftpurl
