IBM Hard Drive Problem

I installed an IBM 75 GXP ATA100 45gb on my system (Win98SE, Abit BE6, Highpoint HPT 66
controler, P3 850, 256mb mem, Maxtor 25gb ATA66 HD. I put the IBM as boot drive and
put the maxtor on the other channel. I have had all sort of problems. System would hang on boot, programs would not install, had to reset numerous times just to get windows to run and then it would hang when I went to explorer to look at files. I went back to the
maxtor for my boot drive and IBM to secondary drive. Working fine now, but when I installed Unreal Tournment it locked the machine again. Would a Promise ATA 100 Controler
card help.
 
I remember hearing about a problem some IBM drives over 30gb had with systems over 700mhz. try a search on the board and check out IBM's website to see if there is a new firmware upgrade.


I'm pretty sure I heard about the problem here, but then a gain I could be halucinating from all the (rc5)crack smoke in the room 😀
