Check pricewatch- that's the going price nowadays for the 40 gb 60gxp. It'd be a hot deal if you could get it for $105 SHIPPED, but they tack on tax (to CA) and shipping at pretty much every vendor.

not to crap-- this is a good deal on a great drive, but newegg has it for $101 + $8 shipping = $109

$9.85 shipping at accessmicro brings this to $115.85

either way that's a great price for a great hard drive. I just might pick up another one.

not to put down this deal or anything, but the IBM 75GXP and 60GXP series seem to have a high failure rate. They're great when they work - fast, quiet and everything, but be sure to back up your data frequently.

The forum at StorageReview and the newsgroup comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware.storage both have tons of article describing failure of 75GXP and 60GXP HD's. Also take a look at the following article:

Thanks Crowman. Actually I was going to post the link to the Anandtech article too but that article mainly talks about the 75GXP, and the 40GB HD in this deal is a 60GXP.

Yes WD's Caviar series are good drives. In fact the WD1000BB is currently the recommended HD at StorageReview.
