Ok, at the time I didn't know better (january 2002) and I bought a 40GB IBM GXP 75 'DeathStar' hard drive. Well this week I got the dreaded clicking noise and it died on me. I have my original receipt printed off from newegg, and I was wondering if this is still under warranty, and if so, what I need to do to get it replaced. Thanks in advance.

It should be under warranty. Check out HGST's RMA page (Hitachi now owns IBM's harddrive division). Be prepared to wait 4-5 weeks for your replacement. They have the worst RMA turnaround of any company I've dealt with. Unfortunately I've dealt with them twice. :(

I think most of the 75GXP series have been sold out long ago. You may have one of the newer 120GXPs. Either way, IBM should be getting pretty good at replacing these quickly.

Yeah, you should be able to get an RMA from their website(I RMA'ed all mine back when it was still IBM, so it may have changed a little.).
