You did nothing wrong, people were just too stupid to comprehend your post. It was a question about IBM Hungary plant's quality, and people come up with racism, politics and all those crap.

"So what's your point? We should just sit there and let those guys take us out? Is that what you would do if you are Deng Xiaoping?"

You are just proving my point that China is a despotism. If they weren't, such a dilemma would never be faced! Dissent would be tolerated (as in any democracy), and IF it becomes powerful enough it would merely change election results. Because democratic governments aren't IMPOSED on the people, they're supposed to SERVE the people.

Its nothing about China or where I live, I just find your theory hard to believe. Can you tell me an approximate number of Chinese being imported into the US in the past year? Were they all illegally imported?

And the fact that you found the same menu 1200miles apart also proved little. Just because the Chinese restaurants in your city does this kind of stuff doesnt mean that the entire nation's Chinese restaurants are doing it.

I don't know what your point is, but what's the difference between what you said and a hamburger stand (I don't mean McDonald chain or Burger King chain, just burger stands in general) or a steak house? So a hot dog stand is a conspiracy for us to eat rats or other unsavory parts?

My point was, it's not right to look at the matter in a democratic point of view, because no matter how you look at it, its wrong. What would the US government do if there are a good chunk of people protesting in front of the White House and wanted to replace democracy with communism?

Just my worthless opinion, I think what Grminalac mentioned is true, but about many people besides the Chinese. For instance, there is evidence that Mexicans are sneaked into the US by "overlords" and forced to work to pay for the "service".

I will not present figures at this time, the us government has restrictions on the number of immigrants, it has for a long time. I am not prepared to present all data on this case. From what I have seen immigrants are legal... at least in legitamate businesses. (Prostitution is another story completely) All i wanted to do was just open eyes a little bit... I am not saying that this is a communist plot or anything of the like... Just a new revolutionary way of doing business. The overabundance of population in china has turned their people into a resource, they use this resource by opening up shops around the world... I am still investigating what occurs in other countries.. It is a time consuming process and a bit of a hobby.

"What would the US government do if there are a good chunk of people protesting in front of the White House and wanted to replace democracy with communism?"

LXi, it probably happened already, and many times at that. The White House has been picketed by everyone from Nazis to Commies to a myriad other protesters. It's called freedom of assembly and petition. You still don't get it, do you?

Dont treat me like a dumbass I dont appreciate that, I fully understand the right to assembly. But what if those protestors are threatening to take over the situation? Of course nobody yet has the guts to do that, but just think about it, wouldnt you do something to stop them from doing it?

Grminalac:

Your point is interesting and Im opening my ears to listen. I was not referring your position as a Communist plot, I just find your theory hard to believe.

Pocatello, mcdonalds and burger king are corporations... as you well know... these businesses I speak of are not, yet they are united in the fact they are basically franchised through the same distributors in china, and a large amount of profits they recieve are paid to the distributors. Think of it this way would it be a bit odd if most mcdonalds and burger kings overseas were run by americans. Yeah imagine walking into a mcdonalds in france only to see it run by a group of americans that could hardly speak french. No these businesses are american in the fact they are american companies but they use labor from the countries they are in. Some chinese businesses on the other hand bring their cheap labor along with the business.

I value human life but tiennaman square incident was hyped by the press, what would have happened in the us in wwII if they broadcasted what the government did to japanese, or what happened to some vietnam protestors.. My father worked for CID in the military, previously he was a MP in the us, and I'm proud to say an honor guard at president johnsons funeral. I am proud that he put in a transfer to actually goto vietnam when he had orders to kill if neccesary some us protestors if certain situations occured. He refused to kill an american.

Come on, I'm not treating you like that 🙂 But I refuse to accept your argument that Tiananmen students were somehow more "violent" than any typical picketing crowd, which are tolerated in every democratic nation.

Grminalac, it's a great thing your father did. Of course, we'd agree that US's behaviour during WWII has its bleak moments? (Even taking the 50-year time gap and wartime into account.)

If you dont accept it, thats your problem, I was in China during the time and I know exactly what happened, they weren't just a crowd of peaceful students waiting to get shot and ran over. They did some things, not trying to be exaggerating, they were certainly not an army but they were more violent than "peaceful".

ok now, guys.. stop...
I think this should ends here.
Like Lxi said, IF YOU DON"T ACCEPT, it's your problem!..
if you people keep arguing, this will be an endless arguement!

My eyes are still open on this matter I have been speaking of previously...
It is a lot to ask LXi but I would be very interested in knowing the situation in your area. my email is jjy111@hotmail.com if you could ask around, maybe even ask at a nearby chinese restaurant how they got started and how they recieve their goods. i have attempted to ask here, in Pennsylvania but have not recieved much help.

LXi, I'll assume for the moment that your information is accurate (ie not from state-controlled media). I didn't want to bring up extremes, but here goes: do you think Palestinian Arabs under Israeli jurisdiction are peaceful protesters? Many of them openly yearn for Israel's downfall, and hope to die if they can bring some Israelis with them. Whoever can obtain lethal weapons occasionally uses them on Israelis. Even then, Israeli troops use non-lethal weapons like tear gas before ever resorting to live ammo. Compare this to slaughtering the entire lot of protesting Palestinians with tanks. Now imagine they weren't Palestinians, but rather Israeli citizens like any other. That's all I wanted to say. I'll post no more!

Here in CA, the situation is nothing like the way you described. I've worked at these restaurants before and none of the waiters/waitress/chefs/clerks were imported from China.

No this is a good discussion, a person does not find a good discussion nowadays. Completely off topic but worthy of talk none the less. I enjoy hearing what a person felt, a chinese perspective, not a perspective of a journalist on scene. Not one that is popular but i respet you for being honest in your views nonetheless LXi.
LeoV I repect you as well for holding human rights in high esteem.

<< I was in China during the time and I know exactly what happened >>

Were you there? Because if you weren't, what you saw was government controlled media, you saw what they wanted you to see.

The leaked government documents will open a lot of eyes. I believe a book is due out.

You can't really compare the situation in Israel to China, I agree non-lethal weapon would've been a better way to resolve the problems, but there are things that make communist nations unique, and the incident proved it.

Yes, chinese culture is long established in the west, it has been there since labor was imported to work mines and complete railroad work. It has added much to the area.
I have always questioned as to why there is no national chain of chinese restaurants. It would be easy enough to do, most of the food is pre-made. Maybe there are large chains on the west coast. here the situation is quite odd. I said before I learned a lot from a gentleman who worked in chinatown new york for some time delivering birds from amish country PA. A lot of what he told me was very interesting and has held up factually from what i found.

<< andrey: China is a communist country. While they have a much different econonic situation than say the former Soviet Union, they are nonetheless a communist country. I do not think you would appreciate living in a country where your government orders the armed forces to disperse young people by mowing them down with tanks and guns. >>

- rickn

rickn, I was born in former Soviet Union and lived there for 15 years when it was a communist country. Goverment doesn't force anything like that on people. You have two basic choices: you work, you get paid and you survive or you don't work, don't get paid and end up who knows where. Exactly same idea in United States.

What I saw was mostly pictures taken by bystanders and news reports of the student organization(not government controlled). The information is still somewhat fuzzy but I dont think the government would use armed forces if their position was not threatened.

(couldn't resist)

andrey, please tell Rickn about the millions of political prisoners the USSR forced to work in Siberian hellholes for decades before they died of exhaustion. My family knows quite a few. For god's sake, don't you make the Soviet Regime sound even remotely humanitarian.
