IBM 80GB 7200RPM 120gxp problems

I recently purchased this hard drive and began installing it under Windows Xp Home edition. I began a partition under NTSF full and when the process was nearly 50% done, the hard drive just turned off. The whole computer had to be turned on again. When it was, the hard drive no longer would work. When I would get back into the setup it would say there was no hard drive to continue installation. I tried hooking it up to another computer. Same result. i tried to reformat it with a boot disk, it wouldn't let me. What happened? Thank you.

Thanks, I firgured enough. First time this has happened to me, so I got kind of worried. Should I opt for them to send a duplicate so I can skimp on the restocking fee?

I would get a different brand IMHO, those IBM drives die quite frequently and I doubt you want to go through that mess again.
