I have checked the ibm retail store, and several websites off of pricewatch.

everywhere is sold out and on backorder.

dangit. help ! anyone know of a site with them definantly in stock?

What is the deal with IBM!?!? THE FASTEST IDE harddrive on the market..why cant they make more!!

They have discontinued the 15GB model. Any stock you find is residual hence thin on the ground.

Not quite, Quantum and Maxtor make some of the fastest IDE drives as well. Why dont you consider the Quantum Fireball Plus LM 15GB instead?

thanks for the heads up on buy.com....but when i go to proccess order it says internal server error or something. anyone else not being able to proccess order?

Not sure of the price difference but the GXP's come in a 20GB variety. Try ibuyer.sysopt.com for price finding. They combine resellerratings.com with a price search engine!

Yes, I was talking to a guy at a local computer show about 8 weeks ago while he packed up the $1000 order for the company I work for (too bad it wasnt for me! :)) and he was telling me how the supply on the 15gb GXP's are very low. They were in fact discontinued. I would either step up to a 20-30gb model or consider a Quantum 15gb drive. The Quantums are noisier, but are a little faster than the IBM's.
