IBM 60GXP Poll

Alright, I've been hearing a lot of bad things about IBM's hard drives lately. I've got a 60gb 60GXP (I've had it for 11 months) and I was wondering how many of you that had one have had it die on you. This is kind of a survey to see what kind of percentage of the drives seem to fail. Thanks for participating 🙂

There was already a similar poll the other day. Please use the search feature.

<< I've had one of the 40GB 60GXP models for 9 months now and not a single problem yet (*knocks on wood*). >>

ditto

I had mine for about 6 months. I just sent it back to IBM last week for RMA.

I first started noticing problems with it after about 2 months....BTW these problems were NOT 'detected' by the IBM Drive fitness program

I think that there are still significantly more good 60gxps than bad ones. Though the failure rate may be higher than the norm, there should be more people with good 60gxps.

First one: Dead on Arrival

Second: Died after three months (Probably a result of my OC fanaticism)

Third: Running strong (w/o OC)

Fourth: New one sitting in my closet, i'm afraid to put put it in

I have had a 30GB for about a year and a half now and it still works great. I had two friends buy 30GB Maxtors at the same time, and both of them only lasted about 6 months - go figure.
