For the folks who missed all of the previous deals on this drive. Buy.com dropped the price down to $164. Use the $30 off $150 which brings it down to $134 then add shipping. I heard that you have to call buy.com and give them the URL or coupon code to get the $30 off.

If your interested you better hurry. Buy.com usually raises the price when people start ordering it and the coupon is about to expire. The price of this drive was $187 just a few days ago.

West-Tech has the drive for $147, but be careful, they'll rip you a new one with shipping. I tried two area codes (my home and my home away from home), and shipping to both, for ONE drive, turned out to be...

$39.79.

I am NOT making this up. Try it for yourself (and if you don't get outrageous shipping, try the 10003 area code). If you can get Buy.com to approve the coupon, much better. If not, mwave will do.

Just saw where buy.com is giving folks a hard time about the $30 off coupon. If you can get the $30 off it's still a good deal but if they don't then better deals are out there. I hope this trend with buy.com does not continue.

I just ordered this hard drive from Buy.com last night. Called the number and told the guy I had recieved either a post card/email..couldn't remember which...a few weeks back and just bookmarked the site for the coupon and tossed the card/email. He asked if it was for XXX promotion(not sure if I can mention it here), I just said "Yea, that's the one". He quickly gave me the $30 off. Though I didn't totally misrepresent myself, I did get an email about the $30 of $150...it just wasn't from Buy.com. :)

hheheheh.... i don't know if mwave lets u walk in and buy stuff but i live a few miles from Mwave like 3 or 4 miles to be exact. Even if I couldn't go down there shipping would be quick and cheap.

i just called buy.com and the guy (R.J.) told me that the $30 off $150 is only good for "networking products in business section"!!! I tried my best but he just won't give it to me.

I want this drive! What would be the price at Mwave with shipping?

Mwave is a pretty good company, shipping is (was, haven't bought from them in a while) very reasonable, and the good thing is you can choose "pick up" and drive and pick it up if you are close.

ok I just checked Mwave and the shipping is $8.98 for the IBM 45GB HD, which is $145.90.

Is this a good deal, or should I wait? I am currently running an aging, obnoxiously loud WD 8.4GB HD

Buy.com wants to know what the postcard looks like when you call. They offered $15 off but I wasn't given in :disgust: Hey, they quit charging sales tax for buyers from Tennessee! Now if they would just cooperate on this coupon thing ;)

z-buy.com has the same drive for $154.00 with free shipping. Mwave works out to be a little higher with shipping and tax, if you live in Calif. Z-buy

I like Mwave, but they charge you for coming in to pick up items too (Five bucks!) So if you only have a single item, you might as well have it shipped. (it costs me about three bucks worth of gas to drive there and back, add that to the five dollar will call and you get what it costs to ship most components). The only time that I pick things up is when I buy a few or more items.

yeah.. I ordered two drives from buy.com using the 30 off coupon. FIrst time i called .. no problem. Second time i called, good lord i was bombarded with a million questions about where i found this offer/coupon. Anyways, she caved in and gave the the 30 off.

Funny thing is i just received one of the 45gigers today, and the other one, which i ordered a day earlier is still processing. Just recieved an email stating that they are still looking,
"We are still working on shipping the following item(s) from
order #XXxxxXx:",but they atleast sent me my Tdk12x10x32.

Good luck with those 30off/150's...

On the topic of Mwave, even though they charge five bucks to pick up I think it's well worth it since I was able to exchange a dead Epox motherboard, hassle free by just calling them and going there and exchanging the boards. That's the one HUGE drawback from mail orderes since that option isn't available.

how does Z-buy compare to other resellers? I checked reseller ratings.com and even though they have a relatively high mark, there were only 50 evaluations so it might be a little skewed. The price is cool but I don't wanna get a defective drive and not be able to return it.

lostatlantis - to answer your question; yes, this is a GREAT drive. After your old loud one, you won't even think you have a drive anymore, it's so quiet. Fast, too. My benchmark scores with Sandra Pro are over 24000 with this drive.

For some reason when I placed my order on the 24th at buy.com using the 30 dollar biz coupon they still let me do it online. Then I canceled the order and placed it again for the 164$ IBM drive over the phone and they let me use the coupon over without having to prove anything. So I'm getting it for 140 shipped. Pretty decent, but the price on this thing's been stable for the last couple months at 137-150 if you know where to look.

The last time I ordered from mwave was three years ago. They shipped everything to me in an ASUS P5A mobo box. It was an oem mouse and a cheap sound card. I thought I was getting a mobo. Odd.

that sounds great and very encouraging =) thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

I've decided I want to buy one, is Z-buy.com a good place to buy or should I go with Mwave? I haven't shopped at either place before - I mainly get my stuffs from buy.com, egghead.com, and the old onvia.com.
