IBM 340 MB MicroDrive AND USB (or PCMCIA) Card Reader for $99.99 after rebate.

Smokin' deal. For $99.99 total, get a 340 MB Microdrive and either of the following:

CF II PC Card adapter
OR
USB MicroTech CK Reader

This deal is good only in the US, although the rebate is available in Canada too. (I haven't found a cheap price for this package in Canada though.)

Note though, only recent periperals in general will take CompactFlash II, and even if they do, some don't like the MicroDrives because they eat more power than solid state.

I am looking for a micro drive or CF for my ipaq, this miro drive sound good too.

Had you order from this place before?

<< Is this compatible with the Canon PowerShot S200? >>

Nope... Canon S100, S110, S200, S300 and S330 cannot use CF Type II cards, only Type I... However you can use microdrive with Canon G1 and G2.. I haven't check the compatibility of other S series and A series cameras...

This is an OK deal... I had ordered Iomega's (made by IBM) 1 GB microdrive with CF-II -> PCMCIA Adapter from buy.com a couple weeks ago for $209 (no tax, free shipping). It was on Back Order then, I think it still says so on the site, however I received my drive yesterday 🙂 and testing it with my iPaq now 🙂 It takes a lot of time to fill 1GB over USB craddle though...

Update: Good news 🙂 buy.com has it in stock now...

For the price I wouldn't recomment the 340mb microdrive. For one thing the 340mb MD is slower than the 1gig MD. I believe all 340mb MD's are 1st generation and all 512mb and 1gig MD are 2nd generation. Compared the the 2nd generation MD's, the 340mb MD consumes more power, is slower, and has a higher failure rate. If you can afford it I would go with the 512 or 1gig MD. Also there was a deal here a few days ago from Amazon for the 256mb compact flash card for about $70 after rebate.
