IBM 25GB Laptop drive $50

anyone know if the dell inspiron 4000 can take those? are notebook hd's not proprietary anymore? feel free to reply or PM me.

As long as you have the Dell drive tray, you can swap just about any hard drive into it. The only time you can't is if the drive bay on the laptop can only take a half height drive.

(Yes, there are half and full height drives.)

Site looks crappy. Beside no secure ordering when you try to enter your credit card #.

How's resellerating on this site?

Found it, here is the Link

3.3/8 on resellerating...........

Returns seem to be biggest complain

aren't there more than that?

I remember seeing 17/18, 12.5, and 9mm drives. You would need to be sure that this drive (12.5mm) would fit in your laptop.

Looks like a pricing error, though. I would go for it but I really don't need 25g in my darn laptop, 6 suits me fine.

beware. on pricewatch this is listed as a 17mm drive (by Global Micro) and on their site they say it's 12.5mm.

checking ibm.com....

and according to IBM, this drive is a 5411 RPM 17.0mm drive.

I think there's no way to tell what you might get from these people. 😀

Full height? Full height is the height of TWO 5.25" drive bays on the computer (something like 4" high), the only drives that were that were ancient 5 meg MFM/RLL and REALLY old scsi stuff 🙂 I think you mean the diff between 3.25 normal size, and 1" high size and perhaps one or two others.

heheeh wooops just noticed I said gig instead of meg, I just fixed it 🙂

the 12.5mm drives should fit in most dell Laptops.

except maybe the ls500, l400 and c400 the slim ones...

Devistater we're talking laptop drives.... not regular HD's

This deal looks WAY to good to be true, and with that resellers rating, and the no secure ordering i wont be ordering, even if it looks like a great price

has anyone found this elsewhere and tried PMing it with AMEX Blue??? That is a REALLY fishy price for 25gig HD....

but its not 12.5mm!

12.5mm (if that is indee the correct height) is kinda tall. I think that most laptops nowadays are 9.5mm, but YMMV. Non-secure ordering? screw that. I'll pass.

I agree . . . proceed with extreme caution. Their checkout process is not SSL enabled therefore you will be sending your credit card information un-encrypted. I someone steals your packets get ready to cancel that card.

Also, there's been some huge pricing errors in the recent past (BB, CDW . . .). Do you guys really think that some small shop like this will honor the price!? Don't be expecting a $30 electronic certificate either.
