Has anyone managed to get either of these Intel chipsets running 2 PCIe graphics cards in non-crossfire mode? I've tried various card combinations on both an Asus P5B Deluxe and a P5W-DH, both to no avail. I've tried both boards with the following combinations of graphics cards, and the moment the drivers are installed for the second card, it's impossible to get into Windows - the machine locks solid during the boot process every time:

X1900 + X300 (PCIe + PCIe)
X1900 + 9250 (PCIe + PCI)
7600 + 6800 (PCIe + PCIe)
6800 + X300 (PCIe + PCIe)
6800 + 9250 (PCIe + PCI)

I've posted this in the motherboard forum rather than the graphics card forum since I've tried both Nvidia and ATI cards of various descriptions, and from what I can gather, none of the combinations I've tried works. All the cards work perfectly individually, so I can only assume it's a motherboard or chipset issue rather than a graphics card issue.

Can anyone running any i965/975X chipset board give it a try with 2 graphics cards and post whether it works or not? I desperately need to get 3 monitors working with this machine, and would be very grateful for any suggestions anyone might have.

I have a msi 975x plat v2 with a x1800 and x1300 ( both pci E ) working fine. I did try a 7900gt and 6600gt and everytime id turn on the 3rd monitor on the 6600 in the display properties the computer would hard lock, then when I tried the x1800 and the 6600gt i couldnt get it to show the 6600 and the attached monitor in the display properties eventhough the 6600gt was showing in the device manager.

maybe you need to tell the bios which card to initialize first? dunno.
