I think its plenty good for my purposes as far as gaming goes...I don't know FPS but i assume it was pretty good. All of this on high settings of course with widescreen ratio.

EDIT: Click on it to go to actualy size and quality. The preview looks fuzzy but if you click it, it shows you the goods. Thanks for looking.

My wife got mine on Monday but I'm out of town till Friday🙁
I ended up getting the same setup as you but with the 1.7Ghz and the 60gig 5400RPM drive. Hope it works as good as yours is.

Did you end up reformating the HD on yours? I asked Dell for the disks and they sent them out to me and I was wondering how long it to to reformat it.... any problems ect....

I didn't reformat mine but i don't think its 100% necessary. If you're really worried, do it but its not that big of a deal. Just uninstall the stuff you don't need.

Reformatting always takes less time than uninstalling all that baggage that comes with the laptop 🙂

True, but its not needed. Like i said, if you really want to, it certainly won't hurt.

So far, at about 4 months+, it's a great machine.

DVDs are awesome on it..

Yeah. I have only done animated DVDs on it no live action. I need to check that out. The drive is quiet and doesn't vibrate at all which was suprising. My Audigy 2 ZS notebook sound card also really accentuates the experience of watching a DVD on it.

I take it to work and everyone who goes by when a movie is playing makes a comment like:

"Wow! I've never seen a laptop with a picture like that before!"

And many of them have high end laptops of recent vintage.

I'm as impressed with the sound as I am with the picture..

How did you get yours to play widescreen dvds widescreeen? When i put a widescreen dvd in, it still has the black bars on the sides of the picture. Any ideas?

I normally use Power DVD (came with a motherboard I had) to play them and if I had a movie with me right now I would look to see what setting it uses to do it. There are a lot of oddball formats so you may see bigger bars on one movie than you would for another.

It's funny how much better some player programs look than others. The worst one I ever saw the the nvidia player that came with my desktop's video card. I thought something had happened to my monitor when I played a DVD. I couldn't see anything wrong, and then I loaded up WinDVD and all was well again.
