The only thing I don't like about the 845G is that a lot of people are complaining about not being able to use double-sided DDR-SDRAM in the motherboard other than the first slot. Example: I would go for the EPoX 4G4A+ and 2x512MB Corsair XMS PC3200, but only one of the 512MB sticks would work since they're double-sided. There's even a thread in GH right now where a guy using the 4G4A couldn't get a double-sided stick in DIMM1 and a single-sided stick in DIMM2 or 3 and it won't work with both sticks in the board. It seems this chipset is really finiky about RAM.
For me, wanting to upgrade to 1GB RAM just a few months from now probably, only being able to have 512MB RAM is not enough. Otherwise, the 845G looks nice. Oh, and the onboard video, LAN, and sound isn't anything I need. It's a good thing the 4G4A+ doesn't show that in its price though, unlike the Asus (not to bash Asus, their boards are rock solid!).
I've been meaning to post about this RAM+845G problem for a while now, I've been reading up a lot on this situation for the past couple weeks and it seems this problem is pretty wide-spread.
I was a bit choked when I heard the G performed faster, as I bought the E before reviews came out. I'm not so pissed now, as I have heard the G does not overclock as well, and upcoming Dual Channel chipsets will put both to shame anyways.
