I'm looking into upgrading the memory on an HP 6645C for my sister-in-law. According to page 86 of the Intel i810 whitepaper, the 810 chipset SHOULD be capable of 256mb PC133 SDRAM modules. However, the HP Pavilion PC Model 6645C Product Specifications webpage states that the max memory module size is 128mb PC100.
Anybody know which is correct? If the memory is compatible, is a BIOS flash necessary to recognize the 256mb sticks, or will it autodetect just fine?
My gut tells me that the 256mb PC133 memory will work just fine as-is and that the HP webpage is simply out of date. But I thought it would be better to get a few other opinions just to be sure I hadn't missed something.
