Absolutely, $50 off mobo means you can get that and B365 board for ~$230 out the door (plus tax) or a Z390 and the CPU for less than $300 before tax.

For lots of things the 9700K is a banging value and still has a iGPU too.

so far I am satisfied with my i7 7700k.
For gaming would that be a huge improvement?
Either way its a good bargain.

"It depends" :D

Really though, it's about what games you are playing. For any "work" that is scalable 8 cores is going to be a huge upgrade over 4C/8T. As others will chime in, this isn't liable to age as well as something that is 8C/16T but I guess I don't think that should be a huge surprise.

I'd say if you thought of this as a high frequency i5 for 2021 then that's a decent way to think about it compared to every i5 back to the venerable 2500K :)
