i7 965 EE quick memory support question

On a i7 965 EE intel says it supports memory DDR3-800/1066 but the motherboard I am getting says it supports 1600/1333/1066/800MHz (supermicro C7X58).

Would I be wasting my money getting 1600 memory?

Not really familiar with the i7 platform, my first time building one. I plan to overclock a little but this is an unlocked processor so I plan to do it that way and leave the memory alone.

Your thoughts and experiences welcome!

if your gonna overclock, no.

Because having a 400fsb strap helps stability, and 400fsb strap is very nice for a 1600mhz ram.

Also in general 1600mhz ram will be @ the nice price point.
Getting slower ran will only be a tiny bit cheaper, and faster ram is almost 2x.

Since u have an EE processor, you dont really need to worry about ram.
Your gonna be using multi overclocking more then bclk overclocking.

So i would honestly get whatever is the cheapest yet most reliable 1600mhz ram you can find.
As i said its in the a very nice price point.
