I brought my HS because it looks good, and replaced the old one because it was noisy. If you do want to know how much better N620 is compare to your stock HS, you will need to first know what your stock HS can do. To do that, you will need to disable the "auto fan speed" in bios or use programs like speedfan, and crank the fan up 100% all the time. Replace it with N620 and you should probably get the same radiating performance with a much lower fan speed. Reviews does give you an idea of how a heatsink performs with respect to stock, but you will probably miss important points like fanspeed, ambient, vcore etc.

It depends on you whether it is a worthy investment. I7-950 itself is a very strong CPU, and OC probably won't give you a lot of actual performance gain. In fact, I7 does OC automatically depend on situations. Whether or not it is worthy is very personal. IMO, many who OC have fun OC and like OC much more than a fast CPU, even at a cost of higher electricity bill, an Artic temp room, or a PC that sounds like a jet engine(no joke). Some OC to justify their investment, i.e. high grade mobo, pillow size HS, 1200Watt PSU etc. I am not you, so I can't say if it is worth it for you. It sounds to me however, that you have already locked your mind to N620, so go for it. Buy something you want for under 100 bucks? Why not?

i have already purchased n620 n my stock i7 HS had the same temps as my n620 so no gain for me in performance it just looks better than my stock HS :( its a sad truth.

wasted my money. any tweaks i can do for n620 to perform good ?

Well you could put a higher rpm fan or 2 on it.

you should turn the heat down to 65f then at stock clock and play some games if it goes past 65c then the cooler seems a bit weak.

it already has two fans on it.
Number of fans is one thing, the amount of air they move is another. Turn every single fan to 100% to maximize the radiate capability if temperature is the most important thing of the radiate system you care. Don't worry, fans don't break under 100% load.
