I7 930 stuck o/c

My I7 930@2.8GHz is overclocked to 4000 kHz. When not running a game it used to run at 2800kHz or thereabouts. Latterly it is always running at the o/c speed which does not seem to be causing any problems but it is obviously running hotter and presumably using more juice.

I have not touched anything in the bias and Task manager is not reporting any other programs running abnormaly when I am at the desktop with no games running.

Should I worry about this or can anyone suggest how to get it to run normally?

I am an 80 year old gamer...pl help if you can lol

Before you default the bios, check if IEST is enabled. In my bios there are 2 places it can be switched on and off, best be thorough.

They say there is no fool like an old fool!! A few weeks ago I installed a program from AVG called PC Tune-Up. It has an option to select from Economy, Standard or Turbo. I had selected Turbo which among other things like shutting down unnecessary programs had also adjusted the the power saving options in Windows but it fails to re adjust the power saving when selecting Standard to return from Turbo setting.

Thanks for your help but I have now managed to return the pc to normal running doh!
