According to Real Temp Core 2 is running warmer than the other three cores. Ambient temp of the room is around 24C. My idle temps at the time of this message are

Core 0 - 32C
Core 1 - 30C
Core 2 - 35C
Core 3 - 28C

Using Noctua NT-H1 TIM with the Megahalems. Is it possible I didn't get a good coverage on one of the cores with I installed the HS?

Case - Antec Nine Hundred
Motherboard - Asus P6T Deluxe V2
CPU - Intel Core i7 920
HSF - Prolimatech Megahalems with Thermaltake A2018
Memory - CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) TR3X6G1600C8 G
GPU - EVGA 896-P3-1265-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB
PSU - CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W
HD - Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB
Optical - LITE-ON DVD-ROM DH-16D2S-04
Optical - LITE-ON DVD Burner LH-20A1L-06

Was not happy with my temps using a Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 with AS5 so I picked up a NIB Prolimatech Megahalems from someone on AT.

Purchased a from someone on ATOT to

there are a few factors effecting the heat distribution across your 4 cores.

1. In single threaded application three cores might be idling while one core does all the work, thereby using up more power than the idle cores and generating more heat. Even when idling and not doing anything there is still alot of background operations (OS related and otherwise) that might be loaded onto your hotter core.

2. slight variance in heat transfer rate/distribution from your cpu to the heatsink, caused by uneven thermal pasted or contact pressure.

If I were you I'd pay more attention to the load temps of the cores under stress testing (where all 4 cores are going 100%). If they all top at around the same load temps then you don't have to worry. But if one or two of them are 10C's hotter than the others under same load conditions then you might want to reseat/reinstall your heatsink.

One of the cores on my 920 runs about 4-5c hotter. I think its pretty common. Ive reset hs 3x so thats not the prob.

yeah I forgot to mention that my Q6600 posts similar temps compared to your rig at idle, meaning one core is about 5C hotter than the rest
