Wow. They really crippled the 1.6 revision's BIOS. My version 1.0 has a similar BIOS to the more expensive Gigabyte boards. You might want to check if it's possible to use a 1.0 version BIOS. Turbo may not even be set full time with the new version. My memory multi goes up to 14 or so and uncore in the mid 20's. Is the max QPI still at 1.50v?

You are at 83C with just Prime95? That is high for 3.6Ghz. Is hyperthreading on? It will raise the temp about 10C and is best left off unless you are doing encoding or file compression. Have you tried LinX/Linpack yet? It will raise the temps more and is better at CPU stability testing. If it will pass 1 hour at maximum memory usage it is pretty stable. You can set your Uncore at x16 with an 8 memory multi. It looks like auto is set at x20 (180x20=3600) although you can't set it manually at 20. lol

Hi Trevelyan,

The tweaktown forums are the best place I've seen to get beta BIOSes for Gigabyte mobos. Here is a link:Tweaktown. Make sure to download the correct BIOS for YOUR specific board. Also, make sure to read their instructions on how to correctly flash the BIOS. Always use Q-flash and never use @BIOS. I have the GA-EX58-UD5 (BIOS F8e) with a C0 stepping i7 920. I've only been able to hit 3.62Ghz (3.8Ghz turbo) on mine.

I've only ever used @BIOS. It's much easier. They are potentially more problems using it in theory but if you have an APC that will eliminate much of those potential problems.

And the Gigabyte boards have a backup BIOS in case the flash fails. I used Qflash and it failed and the board backed up the BIOS automatically. And with @BIOS I am 3/3 so far.

Wow that's a great resource thanks! I'll check it out...

Yes it concerned me too. But, I added an exhaust fan and it dropped the temp by about 10 C under load, so now it's back in the 70's...

Does HT make a big difference in day to day usage? Do you have any benchmarks for it disabled vs enabled?

You can search for some i7 reviews that show hyperthreading, but with gaming there are only 3-4 games that support it. Some games have compatibility problems with it on. But an i7 at 3.6 and above with 4 cores is fast enough for just about anything now.

Does your UD3R support SLI or did they get rid of that too? My version 1 UD3R added SLI with a BIOS update.

Well, I'm not sure... I'm using ATI so it's OK, but I didn't know that there were two revisions of the board when I bought it.

I'm going to try the beta bios tonight...

Hey guys I have the exact setup as Trevelyan but I have 6gb Kingston 1333 ram and a Noctua NH-C12P Performance CPU Cooler. I am only looking at going 3.2-3.4 and was after some settings to do, I know my way around the bios abit doing alot of research but just unsure on few of the settings but these are the settings I know so far and would like some assistance on it.

Multi- 20x
BCLK- 160
Mem ??
Uncore ??
QPI 1.25v
Mem 8-8-8-20 (not to sure)
IOH core ???
DRAM voltage ??
