i just received installed my cogage true spirit and took out the stock cooler , im using noctua TIM and i did find hard to sit the cooler on the cpu.
MB is ex58-ud3r
i7-920 DO
ram is oCZ
i was running stock speed and reading around 40 c on iddle and 70 c on max load with prime 95.

then i OCed to 3.2 and i was getting around 50c on iddle and high 80s on load with prime95.

i stopped prime95 and tried raising my fan speed , but seems like cpu fan is at 100% 80-90 seems to high for me

are these temps ok? the guide im using says my temps should be around 65:S.

any help would be appreciated

idle @ 40C stock? Mobo Temp probe? or Realtemp?

If its real temp, then no something is not correct.
That should be close to your idle @ 4.0ghz +

1. Need a picture of your setup.
2. need ambient temps.
3. What type of fan are you running?

Need a CORE TEMP... not motherboard temp.
Download a program called real temp... and tell me what each of your cores say.

the last core should be lower then the first 3, so dont freak out if you see it idling 5-7C lower.

if you want to oc, get at least a good aftermarket cooler like cooler master 212 (25 bucks ish). Stock cooler = stock speed, if you overclock you'll likely run into some serious heat problems.

80c is too high, i would say 65C is a good temp you should try shooting for.

btw iirc noctua tim is pretty thick, maybe a thinner one would help sitting the cooler, if you decide not to switch

1. my phone died , im looking for a camera
2.realtemp, at 3.2 it iddles at 50.48.52.47
3.ambient temp should be like 22c.
4.my cooler is cogage true spirit. im using the cogage fan that came with ,seems to be running at 1600 rpm.

i do have the thermalright TIM that came with the cooler , i might take out the noctua TIM and use thermalright.

thnx for help btw

dude, lower your vcore now. The cogage true spirit CANNOT handle 1.37v. I know cause I'm using one right now and it's one piece of crap. The base is not flat and the mounting kit just suck. You could try dual fan push/pull config but won't help much. Once you're done with OC, enable C1E to throttle your cpu when idle to lower you idle temp.

cpuz says 1.376v

with that vcore then your temps look fine.

as the guy above me said... lower your vcore.

You do not need 1.376vcore for a tiny overclock of 3.2

Well, not unless your cpu is a very very very very poor overclocker

yea 1.37 is way to high...on my dfi board rite now im @ 1.15v vcore at 3.6mhz with t/boost on and i get idle temps of 37c - 40c and load temps of 68c-72c depending on room temp..im in fla so its a heat factory here...
all these temps are using a xigmatek cobra 90mm cooler which overhangs the pwm heatsink with constant flow of air...my pwm temp is 36c and the northbridge is 38c...
out of the 3 x58 boards ive used [evga, asus and dfi] this dfi dk x58 is with out a doubt the coolest running of all the boards ive tryed..im kinda a temp nut anyway so this dfi board suits me to a tee....
too bad dfi is out of the lanparty business now as this is my first dfi board and i was looking forward to some new models in the future....
any of you guys looking for a cooler for your boards i was amazed at the way this cobra cools this i7 rig...if you can mount it so the overhang is over the pwm's it does a great job of cooling them. and using occt for 2 hours cpu temp hangs around 68 and bumps up to 70c...not bad for a 90mm fan cooler.....im thinking of trying the corsair h50 just to see what it will do.....
