i7 920 fan with 120 or mugen 2?

TRUE is definitely better than mugen, and should fit in the p180 fine. I'd really get a sunbeam core contact freezer though, with a screwdown adapter for socket 1366. Should cost ~45

Thats total bunk. Physical mass has nothing to do with cooling prowess, or coolers like the CM Hyper Z600 (over 1 kilo) would perform better

while the contact freeze would do an excellent job on your dual core, even a yorkfield, it will do not so great on an i7.
 
Mass does not necessarily apply with heat pipe coolers when operated within their limits. The TRUE copper MARGINALLY beats the TRUE standard as the copper fins do conduct better. HOWEVER if one is operating near the limits of the heat pipes it takes considerably more mass to extract heat from them to condense the vapor out. Far past the point of diminishing returns at that point.

If you want to squeeze the last degree out of an air cooler get a Promlimatech. 😉

Another vote for the Prolimatech Megahalems CPU Cooler, seems this thing is getting the best reviews. Just got me one and should be here soon.

how about a 130 TDP as stock... vs a 95 TDP on normal yorkfield @ stock.

Once u overclock, that number sky rockets to 200 - 250 TDP @ 4.0ghz even at 1.275 vcore?

1.275 for 4.0GHz is pretty high for a D0! 😛 Toss out anything that needs more than 1.1V at 4.0GHz. 😉

I thought the Mugen 2 in a push/pull config would be pretty close to a megahalem in push/pull than it would be if using only a single fan config on either cooler. How much better does a megahalem perform with an additional fan?

I can't find it now, but I read a comparison of multiple HSFs a few weeks ago that included dual fan testing and iirc it was a difference of 3-5 degrees.
