i7 920 DRAM Voltage Question

I just noticed that CPUID is showing DRAM Voltage at 1.70V, however, I manually set DRAM BUS VOLTAGE to 1.50V in BIOS.

Are these the same thing?

I also set BIOS to use XMP Profile, where the voltage was 1.50v.

Can somebody please explain this to me as I'm afraid that my DRAM is waaay over volted.

EDIT: I just reset everything back to stock - (BCLK 1333, everything else AUTO), and it still show's DRAM @ 1.70 in CPUID. Does this mean that I'm okay?
 
First of all, 1,7v won't damage the cpu, so stop worrying.

Where exactly does it say 1,7v ? Coz my CPU-Z doesn't tell me the vram?

I thought 1.65 was maximum voltage for DRAM? (I've heard as long as DRAM is less than 0.50 from QPI, it should be fine.. although I've seen nothing official to back this up).

I should have been more clear. The 1.70V DRAM Voltage I'm seeing is on CPUID HWMonitor.

If I have already set DRAM BUS VOLTAGE to 1.50v in BIOS, I'm not sure why it's showing as 1.70v in HWMonitor (Even if I run stock speeds, stock settings).

Is HWMonitor is giving me a wrong reading? or Is the DRAM VOLTAGE shown in HWMonitor not the same variable as DRAM BUS VOLTGAGE shown in BIOS?
 
Do you have a hardware monitor program with your motherboard? My Gigabyte board has EZTune and it shows the DRAM voltage in the hardware monitor tab.

I just installed Asus PC Probe 2. Under Memory Controller, it's showing up wrong. It's shows Maximum Memory Size = 4096MB (Should be 6134MB) and Voltage at 3.3V.

Can somebody do me a favour and see if their CPUID Hardware Monitor DRAM Voltage matches what they set in bios?

Thanks for the tip. I downloaded Everest Ultimate.

Under CPU>Sensor I get the follow values:

Voltage Values:
CPU Core - 1.23V
+3.3 V - 3.25V
+5 V - 5.09 V
+12 V - [Trial Version]
+5 V Standby - 5.14V

I'm not sure what any of this means, except for the CPU Core part. Are any of the other values related to memory voltages?

I've been running some Corsair Dominator GT at 1,75v, for benching 1,85v is just fine as well. And the vtt-voltage can easily differ more then .5v from the vram voltage. Thing is, most of time there is no need for such a high difference. If your ram is running at 1.8v and doing ridiculous high speeds of 2000MHz and higher, you're most likely going to need a cpu vtt-voltage of 1,4v or higher, which is within .5v from eachother.

Now, I can't comment on cpuid hwmonitor, coz I don't use it. As for everest, it's not showing your vram-voltage, it's only showing cpu-voltage and the voltages of your psu's 3,3v, 5v and 12v line. Try the software that came with your motherboard, that should be able to tell you the ram's voltage.

Strangely, Everest doesn't show the DIMM under Voltage. I'm wondering if the P6T even has a sensor for RAM voltage?

I would think that it would say

DIMM (TRIAL)

if that is the case.

Look under Computer/Sensor and then under Voltage values.
 
My Gigabyte shows DIMM voltage with Everest. If you can't see it with any tools just set what you want in BIOS and it will be close to it. My board is .02v less than what is set in the BIOS.

Hehe, in CPUID HWmonitor it's under DRAM. So it is actually set to 1,7v. Did you save the bios? Did it not revert back to auto or 1,7v on it's own accord?

Oh, and shame on you for using IE. For god's sake, at least use FireFox or perhaps Chrome.

LOL. I have Firefox installed....but I have a habit of clicking on the IE icon because of work. Shame on me!

Yes, I'm positive I saved bios before exiting, and when I go back to check, dram bus voltage on the bios is set to 1.50V.

So I'm not going crazy... it looks like something is wrong?

In your picture, Real Temp shows "Core i7 920 4478.44 MHz 169.00 x 26.5".

26.5 multi? Mine only goes to 21 on turbo.
