not really that hot as this was in the friday ad and they sold out in 30 minutes of opening and wont restock till after their sale.

Yeah the i7 is going to be a niche high end product until the 3rd qtr of 09 imo.
Memory + MB costs are very high compared to Core 2 Duo setups and dont offer that great of a performance boost for the costs.
 
what's the next best thing? I've been out of the loop 🙁 for awhile and thinking about building a new rig
 
920 is suppose to be on par with the top tier c2q on many application if not better. But let's not forget a top tier c2q cost probably around the same as an basic i7 setup.
