i7 860 and Biostar TP55- $229 AR at Fry's B&M

That's outstanding. At Newegg, that CPU sells for $280.00-$290.00 and the motherboard goes for $120.00. Awesome! 🙂

I got a similar deal at Fry's for Black Saturday. The Biostar rebate process so far has been horrible. Read the instructions very carefully....

I'm not sure what you would consider to be a "good" motherboard.

It has no integrated graphics, only one slot for a graphics card (so no crossfire or SLI), no e-SATA port, no firewire and somewhat limited audio (Realtek ALC662 6-Channel HD Audio).

It does have 6 USB ports in back (and a header for more), 6 SATA ports and on-board gigabit LAN.

Michael

You could Fleabay the motherboard and get whatever you want. You don't buy one of these combos for the motherboard.

I went to the plano store only to found out they sold out of 10 they started with. Called up dallas store and they only sold like 2 out of 20. By the time I got mine, they were down to 15ish.

Sweeeetttness.. I'll be picking mine up tomorrow if there's any left in the Tempe, AZ store! I'll be upgrading from a Q6600 with a Gigabyte mobo.

If it operates as it should without any issues then it would be a "good" mb. It might have fewer features such as one PCI-E slot or perhaps no e-sata port but I can live without those.

How long do these sales for Fry's things usually last?

Would this be worth upgrading a Q6600 + P5Q for?

They will last most likely till they are sold out, which will not take long.

I was just in the Tempe, AZ Fry's and right when I walked in there was another guy waiting for a replacement mobo because his was DOA when he bought it. I was scared at first because the service manager had scanned the shelves for the TP55 boxes like twice, but I looked at another shelf and saw 4 of them sitting there so I snagged one. Shouldn't the manager know where the merchandise is? Noobs!

Anyways, I got it and am going to build it up today and put Windows 7 on it, thanks again OP! Anyone else wondering how many were left, I saw at least 4 more boxes that they brought from the back so there's at least 6 left at the Tempe, AZ location as of 9:30 AM this morning.

gotta pick up some cheap ram to go with it, the cheapest ones they had at fry's were like 109.99 for 4gigs and 130 for 6gigs.

depends on what you do with your computer... It would be worth buying just to resell and make 100.00. Really cheap upgrade if you sell your Q6600 and MB...

Both me and my brother wanted to get this deal but the ATL stores were sold out by noon. Really sucks. Oh well, they will do it again next month.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that got a chance to get the board. At first I couldn't get the video to output to the screen but that's because I had the ram installed backwards. The motherboard's correct ram slots are bass ackwards from any other motherboard I've dealt with. Just keep in mind the correct ram slots are colored orange and not the green if you have 1 or 2 ram sticks.

Installing Windows 7 at the moment, all is well so far.

*UPDATE*

So now I have windows 7 and all drivers loaded. I have to give props to Microsoft for having the audio, video, and ethernet drivers right off the bat, just like windows should be.

This thing is FAST, gotta go do some more tests and install a few more programs I use on a regular basis that are quite CPU intensive.

I love Biostar TP motherboards, mine is great and has been great, it's like old too.

They're excellent cheap and good OCers.

Second that...mine is, uh, even older 😉

I would've jumped on this in a heartbeat. Dammit Frys, put some stores in PA!

Dang and I thought my i5-750 and Biostar T5XE CFX-SLI combo I got for $250 was a good deal. I was in Fry's this weekend and did not even check on this, should have.
