Wow, great price! Even cheaper than Microcenter :)

Cheaper... unless you are buying a motherboard with it. Last month I got my i7-6700K and a Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 5 Motherboard for $420 before taxes - also before a $15 rebate on the motherboard.

Great price, nonetheless, though. I'm done building systems for a few years now, once I get through all the stuff I have sitting around here right now (now that my system is built, the hand-me-down rebuilding process has begun)
I do love the i7-6700K. I was concerned it didn't have the PCI-e lanes (28, vs 40 for the Socket 2011-V3 CPUs) to do what I wanted to do, but it all worked out great.

Monoprice has the 6700K back in stock at $289. Decisions, decisions - should I wait for Z270 and Kaby? Or stick to my original plan and wait for SKL-X?

Seems odd that Kaby would only work with 10; i suppose it might be a driver issue. Hum.

It has to do with chipset support. Intel has stated they won't support older versions of Windows. While it supports Microsoft's interests moving forward, it also makes some sense for chipset makers... who wants to add to their support costs?

That said, there's nothing wrong with Windows 10, unless you have some terrible legacy hardware or software to support that won't work in a modern OS. The spyware is just as bad in Windows 7 and 8.x after Microsoft's "updates" - but the reality is that most of the supposed "spyware" is legitimate telemetry for support purposes, rather than something more nefarious, and 99% of marketing data is just used to direct more useful ads at users (which is in your interests as much as the advertisers - if you don't want any ads, block them, otherwise, be thankful you aren't assaulted with mistargeted ads for depends and vegamite).
