I7-3770K Temps?

While you bash the i7 3770 for high temps in that preview, please remember the i5 had very low temps – and please explain the difference at the same time. I think I can explain the difference myself, but I'm going to be interested to see what others come up with on that.

I am holding judgement on the temperature increases until I see a non ES sample tested. I do worry about the temperatures however as I read that the Virtu MVP may use the CPU graphics in conjunction with your discrete card to increase frame rates. I would guess this would cause even more current to flow through the chip compared to a sandy bridge without Virtu MVP enabled.

Heat is something we've heard isn't great on the IVB CPUs at the moment and dammmmmm does the 3770k get warm. We actually got it to hit 105c at some points and throttle down. The most important thing to remember, though, is we're still dealing with early versions of the CPUs.

early versions of the CPUs.
could be more than that.

what about the beta bios feeding what sort voltage's into all parts of the es samples. not only vcore.
-fault bios feeding a higher voltage to the video core ? on high oc's when it should be disabled.
-or chipset drivers needed for temp. monitoring I think.
- is software at a running stage ?

-I'll wait for the retail chip and the shipping z77 bios. to start with and then 1 new bios every week after that until they get it to work lol.

Indeed this chip is prefrect for watercooling loops, even better for my monster Phase Change and Water Chiller.

I still hope intel manages to lower load temperatures of these chips, if i ever go back to air cooling i wouldnt want to run these chips at 70+ celcius in load, im somehow addicted to sub-40 and sub-0 cooling in load.

Maybe i5 3570k is better to go with in air cooling.

The. I5 was clocked lower and I think fed lower volts as well. This means that these CPUs heat exponentially with overclocking. And afaik they used corsair h100 and at stock speeds touched nearly 60 load. This means that if you overclock to about 4.5+ with h100 the load temps will easily touch or cross 90c. With a full water cooling setup worth $400+ or so you will still touch 60-70c full load with a 4.5-4.7 overclock
