This is standard practice, and link to tray price information?

Newegg is not the end-all-be-all for CPU pricing. Microcenter is 10 minutes away from me and sells the 4670k for $189.99.

You can order an i5-4670K from Microcenter Web Store for 179.99 right now.

Edit: Nevermind, says in-store only for the CPUs.

So much for a certain member's statements, that reduced competition from AMD would result in lower prices (due to higher Intel market share, and thus greater economies of scale). Well, we always knew the socialists were wrong.
That's not a socialist argument. That's just a dumb argument.

The whole point of lefty ideology is that you can't rely on corporations to do the right thing or cut the consumer a break - especially if they have monopoly power.

Yeah, you can't rely on one group of people with immense power to do the right thing, but you can arbitrarily rely on another.

Wow, I read an article a couple weeks ago "is technology coming to a stall?" and appears to be true, seems everyone's refreshing existing hardware lately- even Intel.

PS- I noticed the i5 3570K and i7 3770K price was driven up above the 4670K and 4770K prices, yikes.

Yeah for the moment it is clearly true.

There's an argument to be made that Intel is kicking its own tail by not pushing desktop CPU performance, but right now most people with a Nehalem or later will get a lot more bang for the buck by adding a new GPU or replacing a tired old HDD with an SSD.

First of all the prices listed are not MSRP.

Secondly I would assume everyone know the terms called inflation and consumer price index.

CPUs never have been cheaper.

A 500$ entry level dualcore in 2005 would cost over 600$ today, and still be considered to cost the same in relation to buying power.

... Please stop. I know you're one of if the fanboys, but the straws you're grasping at here are beyond over the top.

Please point out the flaws rather than just going after the person then. I would like to see your arguments since both my statements are true. Else your post is nothing but random flaming.

Wait, is 4690k/4790k confirmed for May 10th? I thought that was a rumor. If it isn't then that might change my buying choice. :hmm:

are these the Haswell refreshes that are going to come with soldered TIM?

I imagine only the K models. And I don't think Intel has actually confirmed that it is using solder, just that it's "improved" compared to the original Haswell K.

Ha, it says here the new Asus motherboards are compatible with 4rth and 5th generation Intel CPUs but they don't say if the 8 series chipset will take the Haswell refresh yet (without a BIOS flash so you don't need to buy another CPU).

Looks like the Asus Z97 Pro and Asus Z97 A (CORRECTION: looks like it has ALC892) might be interesting from a price/feature point of view. The H97 models will have the less interesting audio solutions.
