That's not a socialist argument. That's just a dumb argument.

The whole point of lefty ideology is that you can't rely on corporations to do the right thing or cut the consumer a break - especially if they have monopoly power.
 
Yeah, you can't rely on one group of people with immense power to do the right thing, but you can arbitrarily rely on another.
 
Wow, I read an article a couple weeks ago "is technology coming to a stall?" and appears to be true, seems everyone's refreshing existing hardware lately- even Intel.

PS- I noticed the i5 3570K and i7 3770K price was driven up above the 4670K and 4770K prices, yikes.

Yeah for the moment it is clearly true.

There's an argument to be made that Intel is kicking its own tail by not pushing desktop CPU performance, but right now most people with a Nehalem or later will get a lot more bang for the buck by adding a new GPU or replacing a tired old HDD with an SSD.

Wait, is 4690k/4790k confirmed for May 10th? I thought that was a rumor. If it isn't then that might change my buying choice. :hmm:

I imagine only the K models. And I don't think Intel has actually confirmed that it is using solder, just that it's "improved" compared to the original Haswell K.

Ha, it says here the new Asus motherboards are compatible with 4rth and 5th generation Intel CPUs but they don't say if the 8 series chipset will take the Haswell refresh yet (without a BIOS flash so you don't need to buy another CPU).

Looks like the Asus Z97 Pro and Asus Z97 A (CORRECTION: looks like it has ALC892) might be interesting from a price/feature point of view. The H97 models will have the less interesting audio solutions.
