i5 4440 vs FX 6300, which is better for future?

Hello,

I need your help to choose one of these two builds.

My budget is around 500-550 euros and I have the option of going with an AMD FX-6300 and a medium motherboard, in order to add a cooler later if I decide do overclocking in the future, or a Intel Core i5-4440 and a cheaper mobo.

My intention is not to squeeze the games until the limit. I don't mind playing with medium settings instead of high, so the 6300 would be fine. But I would like not have to upgrade very soon for playing the newest games. So, which option last longer? The i5 because the stronger cores or the 6300 because the 6 cores (and it's said that games are using more cores)?

Something like this:

-Intel Core i5-4440: 143 €
MSI H81M-P33: 38 €
Total: 181

Or

-FX-6300: 89 €
M5A97 R2.0: 72 €
Total: 161 + maybe a cooler in the future: around 180-190 €

It would go with a R9 270, 8 GB RAM, Seagate Barracuda 1 Tb and Corsair VS550.

i5 hands down. I'd want at least a 4570 or 4670 though, the 4440 has a low base clockspeed and turbo.

It doesn't matter how many cores you have when the cores are slow. I'd go for the i5.

EDIT: And that's without getting into the discussion of whether the FX-6300 is a six-core or a tri-core. It performs like a six-core in integer workloads and a tri-core in floating-point workloads because every two integer "cores" share a single floating-point unit.

i5...I would spend the extra $20 (USD, not sure how much in Euros) for thye i5-4670 or i5-4670k. The "K" is for Ocing.

So, the i5 even with this so cheap mobo? That gives me a little scared, but I had to lower the budget to fit the i5.

About the 4570 or the 4670, it's the same that with the mobo, I'm just in the limit. Is there really a noticeable difference with the 4440?

There's no doubt that the H81M-P33 is a basic board. But it's fine as long as it has the ports that you need (right number of SATA, USB, PCIe).

The difference between the i5 4440 and i5 4570 is only 100 MHz base clock. You won't notice a difference between the i5's until you get into an overclocked i5 4670K, but that's out of your budget anyway.

I5 4440 for sure. Even my I5 3330 is better than the FX 6300.
