I had a strange issue when I was overclocking my new system. I am 100% stable at 100x42 4.2ghz @ 1.24v. I decided to get brave since my temps are decent and increase the speed to 4.5ghz @ 1.28v. 5 minutes of prime 95, the system bluescreens but my 2nd harddrive comes up missing!

I shut the system down instead of restarting and the harddrive comes back up like nothing happened. Is this a common issue? I just have a hard time believing that the system couldn't recognize the harddrive after 2 restarts.

Specs: MSI P67AC43 LGA1155 -- I5-2500k @ 4.2ghz w/ Coolermaster Hyper TX3 -- 40gb Intel X25-V -- 1TB Seagate 7200.12 Sata3 -- Asus GTS450 OC 1gb -- 8gb Corsair XMS DDR3 1600 -- Antec 600 Series -- Antec BP500U 500watt 80+ PSU

That's goofy, it sounds like the chipset on the mobo is flaking on you somehow, which is odd considering you're not overclocking by bus obviously, but rather by multiplier. Have you tried temporarily disconnecting the secondard hdd? I'm assuming you are booting from the SSD and keeping most of your other stuffs on the 1TB.

A main contributor to the forums here recently had trouble getting stability with AHCI mode on with a new SB build, perhaps this is related somehow.

first.... baby steps. Do 4.3 and increase the vcore if needed to get it stable. Then 4.4, and ONLY then 4.5. At each step you have to have sure you have enough vcore. I need 1.38 for 4.6, and not sure its even stable yet.

Well, my page file is on the secondary HDD, and when it BSOD, the bios hung for about 10 seconds after I hit the reset button. Then it booted to windows and warned me that it created a temporary page file. I went into "my computer" and the 1tb drive was not there. I restarted again and no go. I shut down then started it back up and its just fine like nothing happened. I'm thinking it maybe a Bios bug or the harddrive itself.

Do you have a b3 revision board? I didn't see you mention it. I recall quite a few vanishing hard drive, etc threads here shortly after the 1155 launch.

I personally could not get a stable OC on my launch board until I moved everything to the sata 6 ports.

@Mark, doh! Sounds like you got a bit of a dud =(

I had similar problem running on stock on my first Asus P8P67 Deluxe, after getting a B3 revision board, that problem is non existent anymore.
