i5 2500k or i7 2600k for BF3?

Looks like the 2600k isn't so much faster than the 2500k afterall. He just updated his observations. Maybe a 5-10fps increase with a 2600k in the BF3 64 player map.

The more gpu power you feed BF3 the more cpu power you need apparently.

These claims started up this thread but a single 7970 and a 2500k would be plenty without any bottlenecks i am sure.

By the time a single 7970 would need replacing most of us might be on the i7 3770k or on Haswell prob waiting it out for the thing after that.:awe:

Yeah, doesn't seem like the 2600k provides much more horsepower for it, at least not enough to justify the premium. This is just insane because if AMD or Nvidia comes out with something even more powerful, one would need to switch to SB-E or IB-E. I am pretty sure Ivy Bridges memory controller supports 1600mhz RAM which we may see an actual increase in bandwidth from that. It should help a little but not much. :\
