2500K can be found for $200 often on sale. I'd try to find one. Can overclock like nothing

BF3 doesn't seem to care what CPU you have, you're going to end up GPU limited no matter which way you go.

Even the core i3 seems to be capable of keeping up in that game due to graphics limitations, so it probably won't matter if you have 2 or 6 cores. That said, I think you should be asking yourself if you want to spend more money now or later. If now, find the extra cash to bump up to a 2500k. If later, go the AMD route and hope PD doesn't suck.
Based on your last post though, I think you should go the intel route either way. If you can't OC then it pretty much takes any AMD choice out of the picture IMO.

Got a good car show out here in the summer so saving up this winter and fall for some mopar more then likely a plymouth duster to tinker on and keep me busy.
Computers excite me most when a new cpu comes out or a new gpu🙂
People need to stop spewing this nonsense, as BF3 can be very CPU-limiting when playing MP.
Most quads are getting maxed out, and this is where CPUs capable of 6+ threads can run comfortably.
Edit: I'm feeling somewhat inclined to write to each individual website that's run a CPU analysis for BF3 to redo their methods, as I'm sure many have already been misled by the current crop of false info.

Dual cores run @ 100%, quad cores run @ 80%, hexacores run @ 60%, 8-cores run @ 40-50%.

Those are single player benchmarks.The only MP benchmark around is this one http://www.sweclockers.com/image/diagram/2506?k=142b45af179c625ccd8f53fea7385155As you can see the more the cores the better the game runs.Unless you get an in i5 which is a bit faster than the x6 even tho it has a slightly lower minimum fps.

Recent events dropped my budget a tad bit but after a final adjustment heres what i came up with
My new and final budget allows three situations....
i5 2400+lousy h61 chipset that will come without my required usb 3.0 sata 6 and 6 port audio for my 5.1 speaker set up with pure luck of fitting in a 6950 in.
i5 2400+halfass h67 and no matter which mobo i pick i will get the option of a gtx560ti only as my best option.
1090t+970 offering sata 6 and usb 3.0 with full 6 port audio for my 5.1 with options ranging me from a 6950 to a gtx560 ti 448 core to a gtx570.
Frys may have a pny gtx570 for $310 if so thats my first choice with a gtx560 ti 448 core as my second if they carry it at the $310 or lower price tag with the 6950 in a close third.
frys usually is good about new selection i picked up a evga gtx280 hours before it was even published on evga.com so sure if the gtx570 isn't a option the 560ti 448 core is.
Not gonna kid myself with anything less then a 6950 even if it means a 1090t build.

There is nothing wrong with a 1090T build.
My xFIRE setup was puking out figures 23 FPS better than a single GTX580 running Unigine heaven and BF3 stays around 60FPS+ all of time while the CPU varies from 60%-80% usage on all cores & the GPUs were pouring lava @ 99% usage.
Then don't forget than a year down the road, you can grab a Piledriver CPU in order to cope with next-Gen cards.
Edit: With the right motherboard of course.

Geez all your choices are so similiar lol it's hard to help cause it's pretty even.
I say only go AMD if you're getting the chip close to 4ghz. Stock speeds I like option 2.

He wants to play BF3, so we can't forget the Thuban isn't exactly the world's newest architecture. A 1090T is, IMHO, the best option right now going with the AMD route, specially when matching up with an unlockable HD6950.

LOL the gtx560 ti i mentioned for the i5 2400 is the original not the new 448 core one.
As far as clocks go i will aim for 3.6ghz which i guess is rather common on stock voltage on the stock cooler the noise people complain about with that cooler won't bother me if it ensures me a gtx570 over a 560 ti 448 and a cooler.

The two brands if i go 6950 will either be a msi twin frozr or a xfx but the 6950 is third on my list.
If either can be unlocked i am not sure nor will i pick a brand based off such a gamble just whichever is available or cheapest.
Rig will have to last me till haswell or second generation bulldozer if thats worth a damn and drop in compatible with a 970 chipset mobo so stability over insane clockspeeds or risky unlocking is key.
The 1090t will be pushed as far as possible on stock i guess that's 3.6ghz running a single gpu .
MSi for sure, i'm not the biggest fan of XFXs cooling solutions.

Went to frys this evening with a little extra coin then i expected...
Walk in planning a 2500k,budget p67 motherboard and a radeon 6950.
First they have no i5 2500k in stock so i say ok...lets go i5 2400 and z68 and guess what?
No i5 2400 either...so being annoyed i look for a 2600k and a 2700k....all sold out..two employees tell me intels sorta been on a dry spell with manufacturing for the last few months and the only intel in the entire store is a $300 i7 950 sitting in a display case collecting dust.
I take it as a joke and check out the cage at the registers thinking this has to be a joke and i didn't see a single intel cpu period in that cage all amd.
Got the last 1100t which was a returned and tested cpu and a few got held on reserve and the 1090t was sold out completely and with that here are my final specs:
1100t currently at 3.8ghz on auto oc
asus m5a99x evo
4gb single stick a 8gb patriot dual channel kit yielded a bad 4gb stick
evga gtx570
hyper 212 plus heatsink
Overall i am happy with the build and the motherboard is sweet putting my 1100t at 3.8ghz with a click of a button .
Redownloading BF3 can't wait to play😛

The ram thing sucks though - that's one reason I like to either get two sets for my main PC or individual sticks - the RMA process doesn't deprive me of the PC. That said, with DDR3 being priced as it is, I basically have an extra 2x2GB kit just sitting there, waiting for the bad thing to happen... Hopefully you'll be able to just swap that out at Fry's, right?

Swapping might be a problem the build about killed me and my wallet i make this 120 mile trip about once to twice a year to frys or if i do a build or major upgrade where i have shopped since 2005 .
Visit friends while i am there and well this is my first ever set back but i think i only need 4gb anyways..just the price between 4 and 8 is so slim most just get 8gb
Some people are swearing BF3 won't require more then 4gb for your pc and when i did play i never hit over the 2.99gb total system memory usage mark so i should be safe i think.
While i can order online like most human beings that e8200 rig really pissed me off and sitting days waiting for the order which might require some rmas if stuff goes bad or comes dead could put a build off into a whole week or maybe two and that would drive me batty.
Also big on seeing the parts physically in person especially the motherboard layout and as long as i grab stuff with no package damage of any i am clear sailing and i was for 6 years.
The ram i had this feeling may give me some issues it was the cheapest kit being patriot g2 1600mhz 8gb at $40 in their store .
