i21.com now selling Texas Auto Insurance

I21.com is now selling TX insurance. I had them until last year when I lived in California. They usually beat the competition by $100. I checked and they beat my current insurance(Progressive) by $100. Progressive was $530/6month and 21st Century was $430. This is 2 cars, 1 driver(32, male, single) with Comp and Collision on 1 truck. If I wanted the state minimums for those 2 cars it would have been $150/6months.

I hope this helps some people in TX. Dont know what other parts of the country this is also new to. I have never had an accident when using them so I dont know how good they are at claims.

We currently have USAA. I'll definitely check 'em out though.

Thanks for the info.

USAA is some of the best quality coverage you can get. GEICO is also excellent, too.

Price is not everything, guys. You want a good carrier who actually pays claims.

I like AAA 🙂 Althought a little pricey I get the piece of mind when a robber breaks into my car and steals thousands of dollar worth of equipment they would pay for it 🙂 And the check came in less than a week's time.

I called around when I was looking for insurance in S Cal and even the shady cut rate operators couldn't beat i21.com's prices. When I told one of them the quote I got from i21 he even said it was hard to beat their prices.

You can pay online as well which takes the hassle outta posting a check.

I live TX and just ran online quote for me. It is for 2 vehicles for both myself and my spouse. Per online quote, it is $789 for 6 months whereas currently with Framers I am paying only $390 for 6 months!!!!!. Being with Farmers for 5 years now and happy with there service.

Edit : Coverage full comprehensive/collision/liability
No bad history
Lexus es300 and 4Runner

Of cause with farmers I got discount having home owners insurance coverage with them. At least I believe that shouldn't make much difference (ie 390 & 789).

I just tried their online quote thing...I'm here in TX as well...paying about $1400 a YEAR for both of my vehicles for full comprehensive/sollision/liability coverage.

After I finished their process, they quoted me $1387 for 6 months of coverage.

That's not so hot...

My driving (and my wife's) records are spotless going back past 10 years...we're both in our mid 30's...So, nah....i21.com sorta sucks.

Thanks guys, will check this out. I am getting married in March and I am really not looking forward to insurance policies, health and car. $200/month for Blue Cross/Blue Shield for BASIC!! health insurance.

NM, basic coverage is $2890 for both of us. Im 23, she is 24, no accidents, just one ticket for me which I took Defensive Driving. Screw that.

usaa is hard to beat!

i've been with them 10 years now.

full coverage on my ford ranger, no tickets : $56 a month or $672 a year

Amica Mutual Ranks Highest in Customer Satisfaction for Fifth Consecutive Year
http://www.jdpower.com/studies...elease3.asp?ID=2004086

"Amica Mutual ranks highest in overall auto insurance customer satisfaction for the fifth consecutive year. Erie Insurance Group and GEICO tie in the rankings behind Amica Mutual, while Auto Club of Southern California and State Farm tie to round out the top five. USAA, an insurance provider open only to the U.S. military and their families and therefore not included in the rankings, performs particularly well in the study.

The 2004 National Auto Insurance Study is based on 13,944 responses from auto insurance policy holders."

BTW, my insurance carrier is Commerce (basically on the strength of my local agent).

Hmm I live in Houston. Best feature is paying online. Progressive also has online payment, but too cumbersome to get documents. I can print out a policy card for my car from i21.com

And yes I would love to get USAA, but I am do not qualify for their coverage.

Are there any companies you guys would recommend for first-time drivers? I've never been licensed in the US (I'm 24, been driving since I was 13) so if I get a car here, I'd have to get a US license, which would mean being treated as a new driver.

Anyone know companies specifically known for cheaper insurance policies for first timers? Or one that won't penalize me too much for being a 24 year old male (I've heard this is the highest insurance bracket for drivers)?

-Dave.

Well, next year your rates should go down alot. Also lower rates can be had with some discounts like employment or degrees. Also if you have other insurance through them, you can get some discounts. The trick is to look. Dont just stop at one agent or company.

You could also get married. 🙂

Married? Shudder. That would like setting myself on fire so I can run faster. Might produce short-term benefits, but long-term complications would be on the horizon, with interest.

Hmmm...waiting till I'm 25 would make a difference, I suppose. I'm choosing between a bike and a car, and motorcycle insurance is going to be about $30-$40 a month for me, along with insanely easy parking. On the other hand, Chicago winters are not known for their biker-friendliness, and I should probably invest in health insurance if I'm biking regularly 🙂

I'll start hitting some of the companies mentioned in this thread, and see what they quote me. Thanks.
