Yeah, I'm sure people go through the joyous event that is wisdom tooth removal simply because they want to do it.


I had 4 teeth removed, premolars I believe, back before I got braces. I had an underbite, and my teeth were moving all out of place due to crowding.

Now, years after the braces have been removed, my teeth are still starting to move out of alignment, likely due to crowding from my wisdom teeth.

I think the genes that control the number of teeth in my mouth forgot that the species no longer has the large, protruding jaw of our distant ancestors.

That said, I later cooked up some scrambled eggs and mashed taters later that night and ate that as well.

Heh-heh...I used to accuse my wife of being part shark. She HAS had 3 sets of wisdom teeth pulled over the years we've been together. IIRC, one set only had 3, but wisdom teeth is what the dentist said they were, and they grew in badly, but where wisdom teeth should have. (except for the one that started coming through the roof of her mouth instead of the gum. (near the gum, but about 1/2" away)

He couldn't explain WHY she had so dammed many sets of wisdom teeth, but said it happens...and that she was not the first patient he'd ever had with that problem.
