my car is worth about $700-1000"
Well, how much did the adjuster give you?
I got nothing yet. the insurance company is still sorting it out because five cars were involved.

Ornery, sorry to hear about your accident, but glad that no one got hurt.
You are due for some good breaks! 🙂

Okay, you didn't maintain enough distance between you and the car in front of you. But I still think it's his fault for going from a normal cruising speed to pretty much a dead stop in a trafficked road.
I just think the whole reasoning that if there is a collision and one car rear ended another, it is automatically the 2nd car's fault is highly flawed. If that is true and I don't like the look of someone behind me, what's to stop me from slamming on my brakes and letting them run into me so that they get in trouble? It's stupid.

Here's another question: Wduaqnug, do you know WTF you're talking about? :frown:
Holy crap! That's an amazing looking bodyshop. As far as getting the whole car painted, several thousand if you want it done right. Not really worth it unless you're doing a restoration.Originally posted by: Ornery
Guess what? These guys are going to fix it! I'm having the work done at the most expensive place on the planet! They're using a front clip from another vehicle, after market windshield, etc. The guy at the shop said it was going to be pretty tight fitting it to the estimate the adjuster came up with. I told him I'd compromise, since it was my fault and I don't want to piss off the insurance company.
Here's a question: The only thing I don't like about the car is the color. I'd like to get it all painted in Portofino Blue, which is a factory color from that year. How much extra should I expect to pay for that? Any way to wheel and deal that price down? Could I threaten to take it to have the work done elsewhere if I think they're unreasonable? Just because it's going to be hard for them to do it for what the insurance is willing to pay, doesn't mean somebody else would. I'm still waiting for the check. No idea how much it's going to be, but I have a feeling I may end up having to get more out of them before this is over...
