I would suggest everybody see Trans Siberian Orchestra once

It was a great show. If they come through town near you I think almost anybody would have a blast. Doesn't really matter musical taste, there's damn near something for everybody here. Maybe not great for some older folks given how loud and flashy everything is, but most will enjoy it. It's quite the experience.

I agree, I enjoyed it the first time I saw it. I'm not sure if I would see it again since the first time has a lot of novelty to it similiar to watching your first Cirque de Solei performance.

I completely agree. I haven't been for a few years but my friends and I are thinking about going early April. I am kind of disappoint they are having a tour so late though.

I would love to see them. I also think The Blue Man Group is a must see as well.

I saw them last year and this year. Both times were awesome. This year, we had Al Pitrelli, Paul O'Neill, and Jeff Scott Soto. Talk about an awesome combination. I was a bit sad that Caitlin Moe wasn't there, but the girl they had on the violin was pretty awesome. Their female soloist this year also was way better than last year. She was a mezzo and could belt like I've never heard before! And, of course, Jeff Scott Soto is frickin awesome.

I plan to see it again next year. It's a great way to kick off the holidays.

Yeah that would be a good show. A few buddies and I keep talking about trying to get a trip to Vegas going and see them there, but it keeps getting pushed back.

Some day...

I've seen them a few times. Once in Vegas, once locally. Both were good, but the Vegas show was hands down better.

I've wanted to see TSO for years, haven't made it yet.

I have seen them once locally (Toronto). Would go again.

We went for 8 years straight, 2002-2009. Saw them the first time at the Detroit Opera House, once in Grand Rapids, the rest at the Palace.

*disclaimer* this is all based on the East touring group

Great show, but....part of what we loved was the Christmas/hard rock/talented music mix. It had laser, lights, fire rock and roll...and you walked out in that "Christmas mood". They used to do a lot more of their Christmas music in the 2nd half, had MANY more slower songs with excellent singers. Between Daryl Pediford passing away and Jennifer Cella leaving after her child, they have struggled to find good enough singers to match them and the set list seems to be migrating to an extended instrumental rock jam. They started pushing some of the Night Castle stuff before its release (including opening the show with it, ugh).

Still amazing, I have checked out some of the stage rigs the last couple years, but in many ways that interests me more than the show itself now.

In the end though, I agree with the OP. You should see them AT LEAST once 😀 Great show, take my jaded ramblings with a grain of salt.

My wife went with her parents about 3 years ago and she absolutely loved it. She couldn't stop talking about it for a week after going. So last year, we got tickets because she was dying to go again.

My thoughts in 3 words? Fucking hated it. I went into the concert not really expecting anything and came out wondering what the point of it was. I still don't see why people come out of there praising the show.

What kind of music do you like?

I like it because it's a powerful modern take on classical music. It's played exceptionally well and all of the stage effects are well choreographed and set up. The only thing I didn't like was some of the slower vocal based songs. The female singer we had was good, but the male one wasn't. It was better when they just shut up and played music.

you have the wrong wife.

Heh, I don't think I've seen another group that has people so violently opposed on whether they like it or not...

I saw them last year (after reading about them on ATOT). Was a blast, need to go again sometime. But next time, I need better seats.

So we go up to Minneapolis last weekend. Friend said they had tickets for a laser show.
Hmmmm. Well, ok, I guess.
Was I surprised, no, nearly pissed my pants when I realized it was actually the Trans Siberian Orchestra in town. Minneapolis Target Center.
A first for me. Not to be a last.
Put together some highlights.
This basically was the current show on tour, or was on tour.
I think the Minneapolis appearance was the last for this round?
