I would like to think that if this happened to my girl I would handle it in the same way

What a bunch of liberal nonsense.

What would you have done, Rambo?

You don't need to be Rambo to realize that you should be caring for your injured girlfriend that's laying unconscious on the asphalt instead of hugging the drunk bitch that hit her to "affirm her humanity"

This bit of common sense was free. The next one will cost you.

Ding ding ding... The driver is obviously an idiot, the guy is an idiot for not letting someone else stop the car and stick with his girlfriend, the camera men are idiots for making money off of this, and we're all idiots for clicking the link and making TMZ a few cents each.

Others were already caring for his gf, more than block away. They had already called for an ambulance.

Meanwhile, he acted. He went after the scared and stupid girl who hit her. He apprehended her, and kept her calm enough, by treating her as a human being, that she didn't need to be restrained by violent means from running away.

He acted with intelligence and restraint and wisdom, in a highly volatile situation.

What would YOU have done differently, and better, Dr. Hawking?

Please tell us.

I would have been the one caring for my girlfriend while others went after the scared and stupid girl that hit her.

When his girlfriend sees the video she's not going to be able to help but wonder why her boyfriend was a block away hugging the girl that hit her while her unconscious body lays on the asphalt.

You're never very smart, are you? You seem to be the type of guy who appreciates fine art and cries a lot.

Making over-the-top assumptions about others indicates quite clearly the abysmal level of both your intelligence and your emotional maturity.

That young man > many others >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> You, angry little guy, you.

I don't know how I would have reacted to that mess of a situation, but I'm not going to rag on the guy for chasing her. Had he not stopped her, she could have hit 15 more people that night and gotten off, I don't know.

But I applaud him for keeping a level head there, I might have gone apeshit on the driver. =/

As to the girlfriend thing, for all I know there were already 15 paramedics and 54 people over her helping, and he may not have been as qualified as those offering aid. Not that I would necessarily want to leave my SO in that situation...

Sorry, but you lose on this one. Being with someone you care about is the most important thing here.

Of course an intellectual like you would never have resorted to personal attacks about intelligence. Surely you'd never stoop to the level of calling someone names such as Rambo or Dr. Hawking.

I hope that I never reach of level of "emotional maturity" where I abandon a loved one and let them bleed on the pavement while I hug the drunk stranger that hit her to affirm her humanity.

You fail at being clever.

This is a slightly off-topic question but I need to ask it- Are you gay? That would explain a lot to me why you'd be willing to abandon a girl like that.

Here is a reason why 1 + 1 == 3

Your first phrase is tolerated question. - Not proper to ask and every right to be ignored.
The last phrase is also questionable.
Putting the two together is notacceptable.

91TTZ, You started this exchange with Perknose, and this has degenerated into crap (to the point that I started to lock the thread).

Don't make another comment to him in this thread.

Perk, for this to be legitimate, I need you to let it drop from here.

Sorry, but this is where Anandtech moderation fails. If the 2nd party was a non-mod it would be a non-issue, which is bullshit.

Just lock the thread if it's so horrible.

I just got back from 2 weeks for a mod callout, so I'll go ahead and take another, but this is retarded.

You have every right to hold that opinion, and you have every right to express it to Derek. But you don't have the right to question moderator actions - particularly not in the same thread. You clearly know this, and choose to continue the behavior.

Two weeks for your mod callout.

Okay, before this degenerates any further, I'm going to have to lock it. I'm going to bring up the last few posts to other mods and let them make a call on what other penalties may need to be assessed.
