10 years from now when everyone is wearing internet buttplugs to surf. I wonder which choice threads here will get the surprise necro.

Everyone will still be obsessing over the flying pig for whatever reason.

10 years from now Anandtech probably won't even exist. I'm guessing home built enthusiast computers will all but disappear. Look at the selection of parts available now, compared to 10 years ago. It's shrinking fast.

Forums in general have been steadily shrinking for years as well, sadly.

Anandtech existed 10 years ago. I think some 10 year old threads have been necroed.

So you think forums will go the way of BBS systems?

I hope not, but it seems to be the trend. This forum still seems to be very active. But every other forum I belong to has had a severe decline in active users, starting about 2008. It seems most would rather tweet, or post on Facebook.

Trends change, but the people that are stuck in their ways and the ones that just like forums best will never leave. At the very least, forums will hang on as this generation's ham radio.

Anandtech just passed 16 years, though at that time I was keen on sysopt.com (also still around)

Christ I am old.
