I wonder if this deer will survive hunting season...

I got this in an email yesterday from a guy I work with, so it might be fake...

Subject: Albino Deer
This is so cool.
I wonder if this deer will make it without being shot , have never seen a picture like this before.
This picture was taken by one of the teachers from the high school in Dauphin, Manitoba .
He took the pictures while going home from work yesterday.
He lives in Onanole and travels through the Riding Mountain park every day.
This deer apparently has been seen before but never photographed.

what are the laws regarding killing albino deer in canada? In WI, I know if there is any brown at all, they are fair game (during the season obviously)

In my hometown, there was/is an adult albino deer that's displayed in a big glass case at a bait & tackle shop on the lake. Rumor had it that a fisherman saw it swimming across a lake channel, pulled up to it and used a hunting knife to cut the throat. Pretty pathetic if that's the case. They're really beautiful creatures though.

We have had one running around our club for about 8 years. We have an agreement not to shoot it, but that wouldn't stop anybody on bordering property from doing so.

Albino deer are pretty rare, and most often are not true "Albino" with full white and red eyes. Most are "Piebald", meaning they are kinda mottled color, white/brown. The pics linked by the OP appeard to have pink eyes, so probably a full albino.

See the article here with photo of a piebald deer:

In most states, I think it is perfectly legal to shoot an albino or piebald deer. However, there are some states where it is NOT ALLOWED. See this link for a listing: http://www.southeasternoutdoors.com/out...nting/hunting-albino-deer-illegal.html

Not too bad a set of horns, made it a few yrs anyway
AVG life expectancy of a deer around here is 5 yrs so he would be pushing that.
15 in captvity.

Illegal to kill one in Michigan, unless it has patchy brown, in which it's call a Pie-bald deer.
