I wonder if Papa John's has an effect on the pepperoncini industry

Glad most agree that it sucks. Having worked 2 years of my life in high school for a true Italian pizza house in my youth, I can honestly say that I think Papa John needs to be run thru with a saber for that crap he sells as pizza.

Better ingredients, better pizza???

John, buddy, your ingredients are NOT better and I'm quite sure they're even subpar. Somebody should actually even sue you just for USING a line like that.

And as a result (and this isn't hard to conclude considering your ingredients), your pizza is pretty damn bland.

I never had issues like that from PJs. The pizzas always had a decent amount of toppings, and they were always well cooked.

iirc, they do dominate the market for them. monopsony, almost.



and yes, papa john's has been sued for their marketing slogan. by pizza hut. somehow, the only pizza chain worse than papa john's managed to win that.

The ruling was overturned in 2000 when Papa John's appealed. Apparently Pizza Hut never could prove that PJ's slogan actually affected the customer's decision on picking pizza.

Also, some have suggested that this fact didn't help Pizza Hut:

Frank Carney (co-founder of Pizza Hut) became a franchisee of Papa John's in 1994. By 2001, he owned 133 locations.

They found an obscure pepper, then pwnt it.

I like them and all, but there's nothing really special about that pepper. Other than PJs gives them for Free and their pizza(locally anyway) is quite good. I still prefer the pizza at the local Family Owned place(San Remos), but PJs is good.

It would be 100% legal to say 'best pizza.' Hell, you could probably expand it to 'best pizza ever in the history of the universe' and not get sued.

All right lady's! I'm going to teach you how to make your own pizza's so you can stop bitching. This is a dough recipe I found online. Use whatever flour you like, but I will recommend one.

For 2 pizza's. If you want one pizza cut the recipe in half.
6 cups of flour ( I prefer the one that says for bread on the package)
3 Table spoons of Olive oil
3 teaspoons of salt
2 cups of water (will be mixed with yeast)
Take one package of yeast and mix into 2 cups of warm water with 2 teaspoons of sugar. Prep this while mixing ingredients for the dough.
Kneed dough for 5 mins or less. Use a machine. I do it by hand. To keep the dough from sticking to your hands rub olive oil on them.

Let the dough stand for one hour. Spreed pizza on round baking pans, add your choice of toppings and cook around 20 minutes depending on your altitude at 500 degrees. You want more texture to your pizza role the dough in corn meal before baking.

Profit and if you F it up bitch at yourself.

although its not as good as it used to be. back in the 80's they used to include anchovies in the king arthur supreme and a few more spices. that stuff was like crack and i could inhale half a pizza in 10 min. too bad they over expanded in the 90's. still the best small chain on the west coast.

We get it -- you like local pizza places. I do too (had an excellent local deep dish last night), but most chains have fair to good pizza. As the old saying goes: "Bad pizza is generally like bad sex; even when it is 'bad,' it is still pretty good."
