I wonder if a Lowes delivery truck had a bad day

I was in Lowes today and they had a lot of notably damaged appliances on sale with deep discounts. Like up to 75% off. But they were refrigerators with doors that wouldn't close right or deep dents in body housings. They had around a dozen fridges and several washers, dryers and dishwashers20210508_095332.jpg20210508_095422.jpg

He said "Fuck this job!", and shoved everything out the back :^D

I could use a dryer. I'd buy one that was significantly dented at a good discount.

The wife wanted a small refrigerator for her office. I went to Lowe's and found a dorm sized one, but the door wasn't aligned so it would close completely. Asked for a deal on it, and got it for 1/2 price.

Took it to the wife's office, took a phillips screwdriver and loosened the hinge, aligned the door, and tightened it down.

Half off/30 second fix.

Probably doesn't work much worse than a pristine lg fridge.

Not only that but it looks like most if not all LG fridge's come with wifi now. But I guess that makes any future fridge searchers easier as I can just discount LG

My Bosch dishwasher was kinda the same thing. The thick rubber door gasket was detached from the guide slot for it and couldn't be forced back in place. I bought it for ~66% off , pointed my wife blowdryer at it for a while to make the rubber more malleable and got the gasket back in place. That was about 6 years ago. I sold the one I already had for $150 so the only downside is I now have unrealistically low expectations for what I should pay for a quality dishwasher. $800?! It should only cost me like $150!

That being said the two other fridge's I looked at with door issues looked to be more structural bends than alignment issues (and had a bunch of dents on the front of the doors).

Maybe it was this truck? lol

Either way, not much of value was lost. :p The Samsung, LG etc appliances are mostly all crap. Stick with the classic brands like Kenmore and Frigidaire. Assuming those have not gone to crap too....

Do you like your Bosch dishwasher? My wife just bought one and its hands down the dumbest rack design I've ever used. It has no height in any of the shelves and there's all these cup placements designed for cups that gnomes use. And I've had a lot of dishwashers because the hard water I had kills them often.

If you haven't already tried this, There are a number of different ways you can descale your dishwasher ... lemon juice or vinegar or baking soda or borax all might be helpful. We had hard water back when we were on a city well, had to descale the dishwasher around 3 times per year or so, but, our ole dishwasher has survived a long time thus far.
We used citric acide/lemon juice based products, but, not sure what is best.

I've had a Bosch dishwasher for 7 years no complaints. It cleans well enough. The only real problem is a pot/pan from a campfire. But then again, I've never gotten that type of soot off without tons of elbow grease with any dishwasher.

I too have hard water problems. I toss in a splash of the cheapest vinegar that I can find with each load. It mostly solves the hard water issues.

Our washing machine was a Lowes scratch and dent. It was ~30% off. I don't even recall what was damaged. It turns out that we don't spend a lot of time looking at it.

NOTHING is worst than a Samsung fridge.

They're not too bad after you've replaced every single component one by one over a few years as they fail. Ideally the components should be from other manufacturers.

Seriously though, what pieces of junk lol. My parents got one and it was one problem after the other. It finally works well now but that's after having it serviced multiple times over a few years.

Big fan of it. Quiet and we rarely pre-rise anything and almost never have issues with food being stuck on. Filter is easy and relatively painless to clean. Mine is only a two rack design which fits our tall glasses just fine.
